Babies rock out to Mozart

Scientists in America are planning on undertaking a new study on whether classical music such as Mozart can help babies get over the stress of birth.

The study follows news from Kosice-saca Hospital in East Slovakia, that music can help the newborns.  Doctors there have been playing Mozart and other classical tunes to the newborns, and they believe that the music has been helping keep the babies healthy and relaxed.

This peaked the interest of doctors at Weill Medical College at New York’s Cornell University.  They are planning on carrying out their own tests to see if the music really does have a beneficial effect on the babies.  They will study to see if Mozart has an effect on the motor activity and stress levels in premature babies.

Mozart has long been thought to be helpful to children, particularly when studying for exams.  Various research projects have shown that listening to Mozart while studying helps knowledge retention.  Why not play a little Mozart to your baby?  Keep the noise levels low, and let him or her enjoy.  Whether or not it keeps baby relaxed, it’s never too young to introduce your child to the wonders of classical music, after all!
